Shortcode SMS Services

Shortcodes are generally 5 figure numbers that can be texted to from the major UK mobile networks. There are two options, shared shortcode and dedicated shortcode. You can then choose up to 10 keywords on a first-come-first-served basis.  Setup is simple as our system can be configured to email you with any inbound texts, OR, you can configure an autoresponse to any inbound message.

Shared Shortcodes
Shared shortcode offers a low cost solution, and works upon a keyword basis. Once a keyword is setup users will need to start their message with the keyword ie: Text GTEQ and your message to 64446.
There are 2 ways you can use a shared shortcode:

Premium
The user will pay a fee to text-into the shortcode. GTEQ offer shortcodes with the following tariffs: 25p, 50p, £1, £2, £3, £5
There is no extra cost to set an auto-responder on a premium rate shortcode (an automatic sms sent back to the person who has text in, usually to thank them for doing so). It is actually this message sent back to the customer which actually bills their handset.

Standard
This works on the same basis as premium, but the user will only be charged their standard network rate to text the shortcode. This will be used on our 64446 code.
Any auto responders in place to send an automatic message back to you at your normal GTEQ sms rate. You are not required to send a sms back for a non premium rate service.
